Why We Give
Giving is an act of worship and a response to God's grace. Under the New Covenant, we do not give reluctantly, under pressure, or simply out of religious obligation. Instead, we give willingly and intentionally, based on what God has entrusted to us because our hearts belong to Him.
The Scriptures teach us that before the believers shared their resources, “they gave themselves first to the Lord” (2 Corinthians 8:5). This is where true generosity begins. When we grasp the grace we have received through Jesus Christ, our generosity naturally flows from a surrendered heart.
At Strong & Courageous Church, we see this exemplified in the early church's practices. Believers shared what they had, cared for one another, met needs, and worked together on the mission God had set before them (Acts 2:44–45; Acts 4:32–35). When we give, we participate in that same Kingdom work by supporting ministry, serving others, meeting needs, and advancing the Gospel.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:7
